The Beginning of the Story

Our story begins in August 2023. Around then is when I decided to finally turn my attention towards my wardrobe. As I was growing up, it accumulated various pieces of clothing, most of them bought for me by my mom, others gifted by friends and family, and maybe one or two that I actually bought myself.

As I was putting all the things in my life in order, one by one, it was inevitable that I would stumble upon the chaos in my wardrobe sooner or later. So I started doing my research, thought about what I like to wear and why, and after some time in front of the drawing board I had a pretty clear image about what I would like my wardrobe to look like:

  • airy with just a few pieces of basic garments built perfectly
  • filled with 100% organic, natural fibres - nothing synthetic
  • personal where each individual garment has a story behind it about how it came to be
  • a place where older pieces are celebrated, not thrown away

With this image in my mind I started digging around in search of brands that would share a similar view. After a few weeks of searching and reading up on stories and manifestos, I wasn’t able to find any that really hit the mark 100%. That is when I decided that instead of compromising and going for whatever comes close I was just going to go ahead and sew my own clothes. Later that year pamantean came into existence.

Tell Me More

If you search "organic clothing" online, you will find dozens of options. So how come that I wasn’t able to find any brand to meet my needs?

To put it simply, it is all about the details:

"airy with just a few pieces of basic garments built perfectly"

I wanted simple designs, built to last, with an emphasis on function and without any logos or other nonsense.

"filled with 100% organic, natural fibres - nothing synthetic"

100% organic, natural fibres means no elastane(no, not even 5%), no polyester labels, no plastic buttons, no polyester lined zippers and the list goes on. Ideally, that also means no toxic dyes(not even low impact), no chemical finishes, no toxic prints. Nature makes the most beautiful designs so let's let it do its thing.

"personal where each individual garment has a story behind it about how it came to be"

I think that we should ask ourselves more often questions like where a garment was made, who made it, where do the fibres come from, how was it dyed. Why does it matter? Because that gives us the full story of the piece, makes it more personal, more unique. Cotton grown in Turkey is not going to be the same as cotton grown in India or Egypt. Designs made in the West will differ greatly from designs made in the East. A Romanian workshop will produce a different result than one in Bangladesh. All these details really help build a relationship with each garment in our wardrobe and make us more responsible buyers.

"a place where older pieces are celebrated, not thrown away"

Garments built without compromise will be around for a very long time and will be worth repairing and maintaining. Every patch, closed hole, missing button and color fade will have a story behind it - a story worth remembering.

Values. Mission. Brand.

We built pamantean with the above-mentioned ideas at its core. We want to offer each and every one the ability to build their dreamlike wardrobe. We are committed to working only with 100% natural fibers of the highest quality because they can produce the comfiest and most beautiful looking designs. We want to use only natural dyes because they look stunning and have character. We want to help people take care of their clothes for as long as possible because we build them for that. pamantean is about less quantity and more quality. It is about honesty - telling you exactly what it is that you are buying, who made each piece and why, because we believe in what we do and are proud to share it with the world. It is about the local community and working with tailors and artisans from Romania to bring this vision to life. If our ideals, approach, and most importantly, our designs appeal to you, then stay awhile.
